Nasr Fastest Before Colliding With Wolff At Day One In Barcelona

Before his collision with Williams test driver Susie Wolff, Sauber’s 22-year-old test driver, Felipe Nasr, was fastest on the first day of the second testing session of the new Formula One 2015 season at the Catalunya track in Barcelona, Spain. The Brazilian, Nasr, a GP2 champion who was promoted to his F1 ride with Sauber this year, charted a 1:27.3 lap time to put him atop the leader board in 83 laps completed – but his day was ended early when he and Wolff got tangled up with Nasr losing a wing off his Sauber.

Defending champion Mercedes had a rough and short day as Lewis Hamilton was slowest and ran only 11 laps before exiting due to feeling ill, while McLaren also had a similar early exit due to technical issues regarding an engine seal leaving Daniel Ricciardo as second-fastest on the day for Red Bull.

The first race of the 2015 Formula One racing season takes place in Melbourne, Australia on March 15, 2015.
