NBC Hoping To Ride Shotgun

NBCSN will be launching a new eight-episode automotive quiz series it calls “Shotgun” with former “Top Gear USA” host Rutledge Wood, running the show.

“Shotgun” will test a contestant’s ability to answer questions ranging from geography to pop culture while riding in the passenger seat of a professional race car driven by a professional race car driver around four different courses at Irwindale Speedway in California [similar to the recent stint “The Grand Tour” hosts, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May recently did on the late-night “The James Corden Show”]. Contestants who answer the most questions correctly in each round will move on to the next race course. Each new course will feature unique challenges and a different race vehicle. The last contestant standing after all four rounds wins $25,000.

“Shotgun” will initially have its debut on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app on November 6, 2016 – followed later [on November 19] with its television premiere on NBCSN.

Toyota will be the featured make of race car of choice with four different Toyota pro-model race cars to be used in the various rounds, including the Toyota 86, Toyota NASCAR Camry, a Toyota Formula D Car, and the Toyota Tacoma.
