Nico Hulkenberg Fastest On Day One In Bahrain

Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg was fastest on the Sakhir track in Bahrain during the first day of the fledgling Formula One season’s second testing session. Hulkenberg was the only driver to post a sub-1:37 time on his laps and finished with a 1:36.8 to edge out Fernando Alonso from Ferrari at 1:37.8. Meanwhile, three-time defending champion Sebastian Vettel and his Red Bull team continued to experience problems that hampered the team in the season’s initial testing session at Jerez, Spain, with their RB10 car. Vettel did manage to post a slow 1:40.2 lap time before the Renault-powered RB10 eventually came to a smoking halt on the track and had to be transported back to the garage.

A familiar sight this year so far – Red Bull’s RB10 being transported back to the garage.

The 2014 Formula One racing season begins with the Australian Grand Prix on March 16, 2014.
