Mercedes is unequivocally enjoying the best of the 2014 Formula One season’s second testing session in Bahrain as Nico Rosberg was the fastest in the fourth and final testing session – putting in a lap time of 1:33.28, this is coming on the heels of teammate Lewis Hamilton recording the fastest lap time of the day for Mercedes in Day Three of the season’s second testing session on the Sakhir track in Bahrain.
While Mercedes was enjoying their time in Bahrain, Red Bull/Renault and Ferrari were not. After having to exit Day Three testing yesterday with a gearbox failure, Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo was only able to put 15 laps on the track before the team called it a day [though Ricciardo did finally crack the 1:40 mark – with a 1:39.83 lap – before heading into the pits]. Meanwhile Kimi Raikkonen was three seconds behind Rosberg’s lap time and ended the fourth testing session for Ferrari by crashing their car into a barrier.
