Nyck De Vries Wins Formula E World Title

Chaos reigned at the 2021 Berlin ePrix as Mercedes-EQ’s Nyck de Vries claimed the 2021 Formula E drivers’ championship – but only after three other title contenders crashed out in the early laps of the series final race.

Jaguar’s Mitch Evans had a technical failure on the grid and was powerless as Rokit Venturi’s Edoardo Mortara snowplowed him from behind. A few laps later, Jake Dennis crashed out as well – allowing De Vries, who held on for eighth place, to give him the drivers’ victory and Mercedes-EQ the team title.

In the race, Rokit Venturi’s Norman Nato took his first E-Prix victory, followed by British Nissan e.dams driver Oliver Rowland second and Mercedes-EQ’s Stoffel Vandoorne in the third and final podium position.
