Ogier Takes Monte Carlo, Kubica Loses Fight With A Bridge

Frenchman Sebastien Ogier, driving his Volkswagen, won the 2014 Monte Carlo Rally – the opening race of the 2014 World Rally Championship season – after former Formula One driver Robert Kubica, who was contending for the race win, lost control of his Ford and subsequently lost a fight with a bridge stanchion in the ninth stage [see stage 9-11 highlights below]. This allowed his Ford teammate, Bryan Bouffier of France, to claim second place with Brit Kris Meeke in third in a Citroen.

The second race of the 2014 World Rally Championship season is set for Sweden on February 8, 2014.
