Old Man Sato Beats Old Man Dixon To Win 2020 Indianapolis 500

43-year-old Takuma Sato edged 40-year-old Scott Dixon to win the 2020 Indianapolis 500. Graham Rahal finished third. It was the second Indianapolis 500 victory for Sato, who also won the 2017 race.

Sato, from Japan, beat Dixon, from New Zealand, in a lackluster finish with the race ending under a yellow flag after Spencer Pigot crashed on Lap 191 of the 200-lap race and race officials were unable to get the track cleared in enough time to finish the race under a green flag.

Sato and Dixon both started on the front row with Dixon establishing himself as a dominant force early on in the crash-filled race – seven crashes took out a variety of competitors but the Lap 144 crash of Alexander Rossi took out the only genuine contender for the race win.

Once Rossi was out, it was essentially a two-car battle between Sato and Dixon for the remainder of the race, with the two exchanging leads for the next 37 laps until Pigot’s crash ended the race with Sato out in front.
