A re-creation of Burt Reynolds’ “Black Bandit” from the “Smokey & The Bandit” movie goes up on the block at the Barrett-Jackson auction at the Mandalay Bay Resort on September 29, 2018.
This particular “Black Bandit” is a 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am that was not used in the movie but is the next best thing – a re-creation made under Reynolds’ supervision – adhering as closely to the movie version but yet provided with updated accommodations such as air conditioning and a custom-built four-speed automatic transmission with rebuilt eight cylinder 400-cubic inch Pontiac engine.
Bidding is set at the No Reserve level.
