Back in 1956, an Italian wood sculptor named Dante Giacosa was commissioned by Fiat to build a mold for what would eventually become the world-renowned Fiat 500. Fiat is about to launch the newest version of the venerable Fiat 500 – the 500 X – and has brought Giacosa’s original mold of the original Fiat 500 to the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. The mold is composed of mahogany and was used by Fiat between 1956-1964 as the form to follow for cars in that time period.
