Paddy Lowe To Begin At Williams In March

As expected in what was essentially the Bottas-for-Lowe trade between Mercedes and Williams after the sudden retirement of 2016 world champion Nico Rosberg, former Mercedes technical chief Paddy Lowe will begin work at Williams on March 1, 2017.

Lowe is reported to have purchased part of the Williams team and as such, is slated to become a main board director in addition to technical chief.

Lowe has been in F1 for nearly three decades but his most recent stint at Mercedes beginning in 2014 has marked that team’s rise to dominance in the last three years.

Meanwhile, Lowe’s technical role at Mercedes is expected to be filled by the former Ferrari technical chief, James Allison.

Williams finished in fifth place out of 11 teams in the 2016 Formula One season.
