Perez In, Albon Out At Red Bull For 2021

Former Racing Point driver, Sergio Perez, has been signed by Red Bull for the 2021 Formula One season – replacing Alexander Albon – alongside Max Verstappen.

Racing Point had signed four-time F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel from Ferrari and that temporarily left Perez out in the cold until Red Bull decided to jettison Albon, who remains with the team as a reserve driver.

The 30-year-old Mexican finished fourth in this year’s driver’s championship and recorded his first Formula 1 victory earlier in the month at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix [albeit with a notable assist of some bad luck from Mercedes and a first lap crash from Verstappen].

Overall, Perez has started 195 races since beginning his F1 career in 2011 at Sauber and has recorded 10 podium finishes in that span.

Perez missed two races this year after breaking F1 health protocols and contracting the Covid-19 coronavirus in a trip to Mexico.
