Porsche Revamping Kyalami

Porsche will be giving South Africa’s Kyalami racetrack an $8.5 million renovation as it prepares to host World Endurance Championship events there in the near future. Porsche bought the track last year with the intent of developing it back into a legitimate race venue after it had fell into disrepair over the years. Kyalami had held Formula One races from the 1960s through the 1980s but hosted its last F1 race in 1993 and could be part of an F1 calendar expansion in the future. The current renovation price will cover the first two phases of the continuing development.

Kyalami is currently scheduled to reopen in September 2015.
