Porsches, Bentleys, Lamborghinis And Audis Go Down With Ship

After burning for a couple weeks, the Felicity Ace – a 650-foot cargo ship that was carrying luxury cars from Germany to the USA – finally sank in the mid-Atlantic, 250 miles off the Azore Islands coast, as it was being towed to land, according to Portuguese navy officials. All 22 crew members of the ship had previously been rescued.

The Felicity Ace departed from Germany and was scheduled to arrive in Davisville, Rhode Island, in mid-February when it caught on fire on February 16, 2022. The crew were rescued and taken by helicopter to Faial island in the Azores, but the ship remained on fire until it was recently extinguished on February 25, allowing it to be towed.

The Felicity Ace reportedly had a cargo of 3,965 Volkswagen AG vehicles – which included 1,110 Porsches, 189 Bentleys, at least 21 Lamborghinis and an unknown number of Audis. Volkswagen confirmed that the loss is expected to be at least $155 million, but could be as much as $440 million.
