Quebec Fires Not Expected To Affect 2023 Canadian Grand Prix

The fires currently burning in the Canadian province of Quebec are not expected to affect next weekend’s 2023 Canadian Grand Prix, according to both Canadian race officials and Formula One.

Although the race is scheduled to be held in Montreal, which is in Quebec, the Canadian province which is the origin of much of the smoke, Canadian race officials have assured Formula 1 officials that the “the risk remains low and the air quality is good in Montreal” in regards to prospects of running the grand prix.

Prevailing winds have blown much of the fires’ smoke toward Toronto, the state of New York and much of the upper East Coast of the USA. There are currently approximately 150 fires burning in Quebec.

The Canadian Grand Prix is held on the Ile Notre-Dame, an island in the St Lawrence Seaway next to downtown Montreal.
