As expected, Red Bull was the fastest in the first practice session of the 2023 Formula One season for this weekend’s season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix but, as was not expected, it was Sergio Perez doing the honors.
Perez nipped the Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso for the fastest time of the season-opening session.
Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes, finished 10th – as both he and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc were the only two drivers to finish in the Top 10 who were not running soft tires in the session.
