Red Bull has introduced their car – dubbed the RB16B – which they hope will at least partially challenge Mercedes’ dominance in the 2021 Formula One season.
Red Bull finished second in the constructor’s championship last year – a distant second behind Mercedes.
However, while lead Red Bull driver Max Verstappen finished a distant third behind world champion Lewis Hamilton he was a close second to Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate, Valtteri Bottas.
Red Bull will still be using Honda engines for the 2021 F1 season and towards that end, Honda has brought forward a new engine that had been planned for 2022, even though the Japanese manufacturer recently announced that they will be exiting F1.
Verstappen won the final race of 2020 in Abu Dhabi and has 10 race wins along with 42 podiums to his credit in his 119 F1 starts.
Red Bull jettisoned Verstappen’s teammate from last year – Alexander Albon, demoting him to reserve driver for 2021 – and Verstappen’s new teammate will be Sergio Perez, who arrives from Racing Point.
Perez won the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix to claim his first race win in 191 F1 starts and he has 10 podiums to go along with that.
