Red Bull’s Max Verstappen Joins Leclerc At The Back Of The Grid For 2021 Russian Grand Prix

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen will join Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc at the back of the grid at the start of Sunday’s 2021 Russian Grand Prix.

Verstappen is starting in the rear of the field as a result of a penalty for using too many engines – his fourth of the year, with Formula One only allowing three per racing season – after causing a crash with Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton at the 2021 Italian Grand Prix.

Verstappen had already received a three-place grid penalty for causing that crash and Red Bull decided to combine the two penalties into one race.

Verstappen will start at the back alongside Leclerc, who also has a new engine fitted this weekend and has also exceeded his allocation.
