Romain Grosjean Claims Pole Position For 2021 Grand Prix Of Indianapolis

Former Haas Formula One driver Romain Grosjean captured his first IndyCar pole position in just his third race since joining the series this year – the 35-year-old Frenchman was 0.126 seconds faster than Josef Newgarden at the 2021 Grand Prix of Indianapolis.

A perennial backmarker with the Haas team in his final years in Formula 1, Grosjean left F1 after enduring and escaping a horrific fiery crash at the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix in November.

Grosjean took several months off to recover from that fiery crash and subsequently signed up with IndyCar’s Dale Coyne Racing, where he will head a 25-strong field for today’s race on the road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
