Sauber Loses Appeal – 2015 Australian Grand Prix In Jeopardy

Giedo van der Garde

The Sauber soap opera continues. Earlier in the week, Dutch race car driver Giedo van der Garde won his lawsuit against Sauber, saying the Formula One team had promised him a seat in their car for this year’s races, but Sauber reneged and offered those seats to Felipe Nasr and Marcus Ericsson. Sauber appealed the decision but lost their appeal and now the team is in jeopardy of starting the first race of the 2015 season, the Australian Grand Prix, this weekend.

Garde has not driven a Sauber since last November and if Sauber were to go ahead with Garde as a driver, they would be in breach of their contracts with pay drivers Nasr and Ericsson.

The 2015 Formula One season begins with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 15, 2015.
