Sauber F1 has signed IndyCar driver Simona de Silvestro as a third affiliated test driver. The 25-year-old Silvestro is originally from Switzerland but moved to the USA to compete in auto racing and has raced in IndyCar – where she was rookie of the year in 2010 – for the last four years. De Silvestro does not have a ride for the 2014 IndyCar season and finished with zero victories in 65 starts in 2013 – although she did finish second in Houston for KV Racing.
Simona de Silvestro will join Giedo van der Garde and Sergey Sirotkin as affiliated drivers for Sauber F1.
