Season Four Of The Grand Tour Launches In November…Or Maybe December

The fourth season of “The Grand Tour” will debut on Amazon later this year, according to statements made by executive producer Andy Wilman in an interview with film industry website Deadline.

Wilman indicated that the filming has been completed for the Season Four debut episode and it is currently in the editing process and is expected to be shown on Amazon before 2019 ends. The second episode begins production next month and is slotted for an early 2020 release date. There will be four episodes in Season Four of “The Grand Tour” – with each episode being similar to the Colombia and Mongolia specials from last year.

To facilitate the new specials-only format of “The Grand Tour”, Wilman shuttered W Chump & Sons – the production company he co-founded with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May – and had the show sign on with the BBC Studios-backed Expectation production company, effectively giving him and the boys more flexibility for both “The Grand Tour” as well as their slew of specialty shows while not reducing quality.

Wilman will be editing Clarkson’s upcoming show, “I Bought A Farm” via Expectation and will also be originating his own show idea. Meanwhile, Hammond has his own upcoming show on Amazon – a six-part series with former “Mythbusters” star Tory Belleci – while James May is still working on his travelogue show, “Our Man In… Japan with James May”.

Wilman says their deal with Amazon precludes working with other streaming competitors [such as Netflix] but allows working with non-streaming services, which is why Hammond is working on 10-part Discovery series [“Richard Hammond’s BIG!”] and Clarkson can host the UK version of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” for ITV.
