Sebastian Vettel Claims First Pole Position Of 2019 Formula One Season

Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel beat Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes in 2019 Canadian Grand Prix qualifying to claim his first pole position of the Formula One season – and it was only the second time this year that the dominant Mercedes have been beaten to pole – the only other time was also by Ferrari with by Vettel’s teammate Charles Leclerc winning the pole position for the 2019 Bahrain Grand Prix three months ago.

Vettel was 0.206 seconds quicker than Hamilton, with Leclerc a further 0.680 secs back in the third spot. Completing the second row was Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo.

The third row will consist of Red Bull’s Pierre Gasly and Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas.
