Sebastian Vettel Is A Double Winner At 2018 Canadian Grand Prix

Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel won the 2018 Canadian Grand Prix twice – once when the checkered flag was waved a lap early and once again when the race ended a lap later. Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas was second and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen finished on the podium in the third and final position.

It was a snoozer of a race as Vettel, the pole-sitter, led from start to finish and the top three places finished as they started. With Vettel never being challenged and only six cars finishing on the lead lap, the lone drama of the race was whether or not Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton would be able to retain his overall lead in the Formula One driver’s standings but he lost it midway through the race when Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo passed him in a pit stop exchange, putting Hamilton in fifth place.

With his victory – the 50th of his Grand Prix career and his first Canadian Grand Prix win since 2013 – Vettel moves slightly ahead of Hamilton in the F1 driver’s rankings with 121 points to Hamilton’s 120 points while Bottas is a distant third with 86 points.
