Sebastian Vettel Wins 2017 Brazilian Grand Prix

After Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel made a move on the first corner on the first lap and disposed of pole-sitter Valtteri Bottas from Mercedes, he went on to lead the majority of the race to win the 2017 Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos in Brazil. Vettel’s Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen held off a spirited challenge from 2017 world champion Lewis Hamilton to claim the third and final podium position.

With the exception of a brief period of pit stop turnover when Hamilton led for a few laps, Vettel led the entire race after taking the lead from Bottas in the first corner. Raikkonen was never able to surpass Bottas for third and instead had to fight off Hamilton – who had to start from the pit lane due to his crash in the final qualifying session – for the final podium spot.

With the victory, Vettel closes the gap to 2017 world champion Hamilton down to 43 points and increases his lead over Bottas to 22 points – with only one race remaining in two weeks at Abu Dhabi.
