Sergio Perez Claims Pole Position For 2023 Miami Grand Prix

As expected, Red Bull claimed the pole position for tomorrow’s 2023 Miami Grand Prix, but unexpectedly, it was the Red Bull of Sergio Perez which will sit in the first spot of the grid after a crash by Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc put out a red flag and closed the qualifying with 1:36 left in the session.

That left Perez on pole position with the Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso alongside him in the first row and the Ferrari of Leclerc’s teammate, Carlos Sainz, Jr. in the third spot with Haas’ Kevin Magnussen alongside him in a surprise showing.

More surprises were in store though as Mercedes’ George Russell was sixth and his teammate, seven-time Formula One world champion, Lewis Hamilton, starts in 13th after missing out on the final session. Perez’s Red Bull teammate, Max Verstappen, will start in ninth after botching his lone attempt at a flying lap in the final qualifying session.
