The first day of the second testing session at the Sakhir track in Bahrain [but third overall in the season so far] was completed and Force India’s Sergio Perez was fastest on the track with a recorded lap time of 1:35.29. That was two seconds off the fastest time recorded so far this season at Sakhir but was enough to lead the day. Meanwhile, the defending champion Red Bull team had Daniel Ricciardo behind the wheel and were able to manage their fastest time yet – at 1:37.91 – nearly two seconds quicker than their previous best time. Alas, Ricciardo could only amass a mere 39 laps before engine recovery issues put the RB10 back in the garage.
