As if the 2015 Formula One season wasn’t going poorly enough for McLaren – ninth place out of 10 teams and only 27 points scored overall – Luxembourg-based Swiss-founded luxury timing manufacturer, Tag Heuer, has ditched McLaren and signed up with Red Bull for the 2016 season after Red Bull’s deal with Japanese-based Casio ended this year.
Tag Heuer’s departure as a major sponsor ends a 30-year association with McLaren and comes on the heels of last year’s departure of major sponsor Hugo Boss [a 33-year association] to Mercedes, Vodafone in 2013 and rumors of whisky giant Johnnie Walker jumping ship to Force India.
