The 2001 Fast & Furious? Universal Brings It On For Anniversary Re-Release

Universal will bring it on! A re-release of the 2001 “The Fast and the Furious” the non-ampersanded original [sort of – it borrowed the title and shared a few elements of the 1955 Roger Corman classic] movie that started the franchise on its wildly popular ride that has now produced eight sequels.

The 2001 version of “The Fast and the Furious” is being scheduled for a limited release in approximately 1,500 theaters to celebrate the 15th anniversary [on Wednesday, June 22, 2016] of its debut.

The 2001 version of “The Fast and the Furious” eventually wound up grossing $207 million and has since spawned seven sequels totaling $3.9 billion. The newest sequel – “Fast 8” – is currently scheduled to be released on April 14, 2017.
