The Grand Tour Returns With Eurocrash

The boys [Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May], formerly of “Top Gear” and currently of “The Grand Tour” are back with the latest TGT episode entitled “Eurocrash” where they take a 1400-mile road trip from Poland to Slovenia.

As usual, the trio drive three very different vehicles on the way from Gdansk to Slovenia, Clarkson in a Mitsuoka LeSeyde, Hammond in a Chevrolet SSR pickup truck convertible and May in a 1947 Crosley [from the inventor of the shelf in the refrigerator].

Also as usual, there are many scripted events along the way as the trio visit a gigantic Jesus statue, a wax museum in Krakow where they abscond with former Formula One driver, Nigel Mansell and a racetrack where Hammond drives Iron Curtain versions of Formula One cars and, of course, crashes.

Naturally, there are pranks aplenty and May in his tiny, underpowered Crosley is the obvious recipient of the majority of the joking attempts.

The entire episode is mostly in the same vein as the original road trip episodes of “Top Gear” and the same episodes they have done for “The Grand Tour” – although the locations have changed to mostly Eastern Europe, the scripted events are in the same format as many of the earlier episodes.

For that reason, AutoSportsNation found the episode enjoyable but awards only a 77 out of 100 as ASN feels they can be a bit more creative next time out.
