Top Gear Series 22, Episode 7 Recap

The seventh episode of the season is a relatively lackluster affair beginning with Jeremy opening up the episode with a road test of the Jaguar F-Type coupe and while he likes it just fine, what he really likes better is the replica from Eagle of a 1960 Jaguar E-Type prototype one-off that costs nearly $1.5 million [Who wouldn’t? Duh.]. The Jaguar F-Type coupe’s lap time around the track with The Stig is a rather pedestrian 1:21.6.

The news segment brings a mention of the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show but – alas – none of the good bits like the Grand Prix or the Touring Superleggera Berlinetta Lusso. This lead up to Richard’s road test of yet another iteration of the Mazda MX-5 [because what the world really needs is yet another Mazda Miata iteration] but, thankfully, spares us a lap around the track with The Stig.

Actor Nicholas Hoult takes a lap around the track in the Reasonably Priced Car and records an impressive 1:44.7 – placing him as the second-fastest for the year.

Finally, the show concludes with James engaging in an obviously contrived cross-promotional segment featuring Tanner Foust of the lame Americanized version of Top Gear going up against James – sorta – in a rallycross “race” where the big drama revolves around James attempting not to get lapped by Foust and the other professional Rallycross drivers whilst being annoyed by Jeremy and Richard as his spotters.
