Toyota Brings Crown Back To USA

Toyota Motor North America is bringing back the Crown nameplate to the USA.

Toyota began the nameplate with the 1955 Toyopet Crown [above] and it first appeared in the USA in 1958 but then Toyota discontinued the nameplate in 1972, even while still selling it overseas.

The 2023 version of the Toyota Crown is scheduled to be offered in a trio of styles — XLE, Limited and Platinum — along with a choice of two different hybrid powertrains: the fourth generation Toyota Hybrid System or the new 340-hp Hybrid Max, which will be exclusive to the Platinum purchasers.

The various versions of the 2023 Toyota Crown are expected to become available in late 2022.
