Swedish Volvo-affiliated former racing automaker Polestar has turned to producing electric vehicles and – in collaboration with art auction houses, Philips and Sotheby’s – are offering prospective customers to trade pieces of their art collection for a Polestar electric vehicle.
Polestar will review and estimate the art – and will eventually sell the art – a maximum of three artworks will be allowed for a purchase. All forms of art, including paintings, sculptures, photography, installations are considered as valid payment methods if the value of the art corresponds with the list price of the Polestar 1 [currently, $155,000].
A maximum of 25 special edition Polestar 1 electric vehicles are being produced – complete with custom matte gold exterior paint [with matching brake calipers], black wheels, and color-matched gold stitching interior – but only a handful will be eligible for the offer, available through August 15, 2021, in Europe and North America.
