Red Bull’s Max Verstappen edged out both Mercedes – that of Valtteri Bottas and of seven-time defending Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton, to claim the pole position for tomorrow’s season-ending 2020 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
It was both Red Bull’s and Verstappen’s first pole of the season, which has been dominated by Mercedes – and it was not by much as Verstappen eeked by Bottas by a mere 0.025 seconds, with Hamilton third – and only 0.086 seconds separated that trio.
McLaren’s Lando Norris was alongside Hamilton in the second row while Red Bull’s Alexander Albon and the second McLaren of Carlos Sainz, Jr. made up the third row.
