Bad Max: Verstappen Slapped With Five-Spot Grid Penalty For Canadian Grand Prix

Max Verstappen's crash indirectly led to Nico Rosberg's race win at the 2015 Monaco Grand Prix.

Although it won’t do any good for Lewis Hamilton, the learning process continues for Dutch teenager Max Verstappen, who was handed a five-spot grid penalty [and loss of two points] for smashing into Romain Grosjean at the 2015 Monaco Grand Prix this past weekend. The crash occurred on Lap 64 of the 78-lap race and was the initial event in a chain of events that eventually led to Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg winning the race after Hamilton’s pit crew made a pit stop blunder allowing both Rosberg and Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel to pass Hamilton while he was exiting the pits.

The 2015 Formula One season continues with the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal at 11 a.m. [PDT] on NBCSN on June 7, 2015.
