In a fitting end to the year that was 2020, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen led start-to-finish over both Mercedes in a 1-2-3 snoozefest at the season-ending 2020 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Verstappen held the pole position over both Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas and seven-time defending Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton – neither of whom seemed much interested in racing and, consequently, that podium order held for the entire race.
The only minor drama emerged on Lap 10 when Racing Point’s Sergio Perez had an engine failure on his car that knocked him out of the race.
