Volkswagen is collaborating with Disney+ to feature both the ID. Buzz electric van and the new “Star Wars”-themed series, “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” which is currently set to debut on Disney+ streaming service on May 27, 2022.
The promotion employs Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic to bring back some familiar “Star Wars” characters – such as C3PO, R2D2 and some Jawas – as well as actor, Ewan McGregor, who will also serve as brand ambassador for Volkswagen.
McGregor, who already participated in the world premiere of the ID. Buzz in March 2022, reportedly drove his first VW when he was 16 years old.
Designers from Volkswagen and Lucasfilm have also co-created a pair of “Star Wars Edition” ID. Buzz vans that will be unveiled at the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, California this week.
