In what always seemed like a clash between the brand’s most recognizable asset – safety – and the sport of motor racing, Volvo has realized this and is officially calling it quits in participating in motor racing series after its current contracts run out with the various racing series they are aligned with, including the V8 Supercars series in Australia – where Volvo won four races this year.
Volvo will abandon the Swedish Touring Car Championship after their contract runs out in 2015 as well as the V8 Supercars series when the contract runs out in 2016.
