Wallace Receives Tribute, Blaney Wins Race At Talladega

Bubba Wallace received a show of support from his fellow NASCAR drivers as they pushed his car to the start-line at the beginning of the Geico 500 at Talladega, Alabama – in a display of symbolic support for him a day after a noose was found in his Richard Petty Motorsports team garage. The 26-year-old Wallace, is from Alabama and is the sole black full-time driver in NASCAR’s top level.

NASCAR continues to investigate the incident and has been joined by the FBI as well as the Department of Justice.

The noose incident occurred after Wallace – a vocal supporter of the Black Lives Matter campaign – was instrumental in getting the Confederate flag banned from all future NASCAR races.

Meanwhile, in the race, Wallace finished back in the pack as Ryan Blaney edged Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. and Aric Almirola – who spun across the line for third place – for the win.
