Warner Bros. Wins Batmobile Lawsuit

Warner Bros. finally put to rest a four-year lawsuit against replica car maker Mark Towle after Towle had infringed upon the DC Comic copyright by building and selling various replicas of the iconic cars over the years. After winning the original lawsuit against Towle in 2013, Towle appealed, claiming that the only Batmobile protected was the original car used in the Batman comic books before the television shows and feature films were produced.

The federal appeal court, however, agreed with Warner Bros. – which owns DC Comics – in saying that the Batmobile could change over time and still retain the copyright.
