Historic car racer Denis Welch was killed at an event at Silverstone in the UK over the weekend. Welch was driving a 1960 Lotus 18 as he was competing in the second Jack Brabham Memorial Race for pre-1966 Grand Prix race cars when he became entangled with another car on the opening lap and rolled the open cockpit Lotus.
Welch initially survived the rollover but died later at the track’s medical center. He was 69.
