What Does Superformance Have Planned For The Ford GT 50th Anniversary?

Glad you asked – Superformance plans on building 20 limited-edition GT40 MKII 50th Anniversary replicas to commemorate the race car’s victory in the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans.

While Superformance’s replicas boast of having 90% of the car’s parts interchangeable with the original and will install all with a right-hand-drive layout and right-hand shift setup like the Le Mans racers, there are a few modernizations added – such as air conditioning and an adjustable pedal box. To those who may be considering purchasing a replica, Superformance strongly suggests placing a specially prepared Shelby aluminum-block 427 FE V8 engine [which comes with its own Anniversary badging] inside the replicas. Cost for the chassis is $170,000 plus another $60,000 to purchase and install the mechanical innards. Color scheme choices include the black with silver stripes, blue with white stripes and red with white stripes.

One of Superformance’s replicas will be on display during the upcoming Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, on January 27, 2016.
