What’s That Crackling Noise You Hear On Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee?

Jerry Seinfeld’s popular web series may be departing Crackle for greener pastures at the conclusion of its upcoming ninth season.

Two primary factors may be speeding up the potential move – first and foremost, Seinfeld’s industry executive buddy at Sony [owner of Crackle], Steve Mosko, has departed, and second, they may or may not have noticed the hundreds of thousands and millions of views that usually accumulate at YouTube whenever anything is posted by The Grand Tour or Jay Leno’s Garage and maybe, just maybe, might want a piece of that lucrative action.

There is also the Amazon or Netflix route which could be lucrative as well for Seinfeld, whose contract with Sony will expire after the upcoming season.

Since the series is partially owned by Sony, they will make money no matter where it goes but two possible scenarios could have the series being sent to a non-Crackle entity where old episodes would air while new episodes would continue to make their debut on Crackle or both old and new episodes could air on a non-Crackle entity.

The ninth season of “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” is currently scheduled to begin in January 2017.
