Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton Switching To Ferrari In 2025
Seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton will leave Mercedes at the end of the 2024 season and join Ferrari in a multi-year deal beginning with the 2025 Formula 1 season.
The 39-year-old Hamilton had signed a renewed a two-year deal with Mercedes in 2023 but that contract contained a clause allowing Hamilton to move on after one year – Hamilton will be exercising that clause with the Ferrari deal.
Hamilton has spent 11 years with Mercedes, winning six of his seven world titles with the manufacturer after winning his initial title in 2008 with McLaren – but his eighth title was denied in 2021 at the infamous 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix fiasco where a rogue race director did not follow proper rules procedures and prevented Hamilton from winning that title.
Hamilton is set to join Charles Leclerc and replace Carlos Sainz, Jr., who has already confirmed his departure in 2025 from Ferrari.
Mercedes, meanwhile, will move on with George Russell and a driver as yet to be named.
